Horisont

The chic, stylish and sophisticated - that is how Swissotel describes the Horisont and then they go on to talk about breath-taking views and five star cuisine. Ooooh, I don't think they are being completely objective, since that's where the restaurant is - in the hotel.

I'm not sure from where exactly did they manage to get all these stars? Scissors, cardboard and golden spray paint perhaps, who knows. Yes it is stylish - if you consider design that could belong in any of the thousands of business hotels in a world stylish. Chic and sophisticated is definitely over-reaching.

Expensive with inadequate service and the absolute worst is that the only thing that I remember tasting that night is blood sausage. Doesn't really bring chic or sophisticated to mind or expensive for that matter. And I like blood sausage.

The rest is just a blur, a lot of fluff and plating skills, but nothing worth remembering. Style over substance and so on. Sure, maybe if you need to meet for dinner and it's all business and the food is just an after-thought, it could be OK. Just don't go if you're out on a date or if you want to have fun with your friends.

I do agree with Ron in some points such as the Chic and Style of the hotel and restaurant. It is one of the most stylish restaurants, I have seen during my travels around the world.
What I don't agree with is the subject of service. Inadequate service, you get at Vertigo, Ö and Egoist, where the waiter don't care about you. You order something and you can count the seconds until they come back and tell you, they don't have it! So happened in Vertigo to me 2x. Egoist is too expensive for the portions you get and the the service is too casual for what you expect. Ö - omg... A nightmare! Starters cold, main courses took too long, the waiter couldn't recommend any wine to our food order and had to ask a colleague and in the end we got a bill which was way to high simply because they charged us drinks from the neighbour table! I have been to Horisont serveral times. Yes it is not cheap but what you get for the price is worth it.
The service is care taking, the waiters are know what they do. They ask you if they can offer a wine to the food you chose. During my second visit the chef even served us a complementary course during our dinner.
You should give it another try. Or are you one of these people who can't get satisfied at all?
